Women's Rowing Team Breaks Double World Record in Barbados
Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 02:28AM The Row for Freedom women's team set a double world record in completing their 3,000 mile, 45 day rowing journey across the Atlantic.
The ladies also have the distinction of being the fastest female crew to cross the Atlantic Ocean - and the first female team of five to row any ocean.
The female team finished in fifth place after making the crossing from the Canary Islands to Barbados - which is the old Atlantic slave trade route. Row for Freedom raised money for ECPAT UK and the A21 charities which support victims of human trakkicking and forced labor.
Friends and family were on hand in Barbados to welcome them as they crossed the finish line in Port St. Charles.
