Barbados 2010 Tourism Grows
Friday, August 27, 2010 at 04:22PM According to the Barbados Statistical Service, from January through July, the island reported a 20% increase in visitors from the U.S. - that's 14,656 more visitors as compared to the same period last year.
One of the reasons for the increase is more direct flights to the island.
American Airlines offers flights from Miami and New York. Low cost carrier JetBlue recently started flights from JKF, and Delta offers flights from its home base in Atlanta. This Fall US Airways will offers flights from Charlotte, NC.
Also the Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) project record cruise passenger arrivals for 2010-2011. Barbados cruise passenger numbers are projected at 800,000 passengers and could reach as high as 900,000.
