Barbados easyCruise Schedule
Several clients have asked about the Barbados easyCruise schedule for the fall/winter 2006/2007 season.
Just received news from easyCruise on the new Caribbean cruising season, and Barbados is not yet listed on the schedule.
easyCruise will end the sailing season in the French and Italian Riviera on October 30, 2006.
Last season easyCruise docked in Barbados an extra day to allow time for passengers to arrive by air.
The schedule included St Vincent & the Grenadines, Martinique, Grenada, St Lucia, and returning back to Barbados.
While this was a very popular itineary, it proved not to be cost effective to book a cruise at budget prices, and pay extremely high air fare getting to Barbados. While the cruise was pricing as low as $32.00 per night, many Americans balked at paying an average of $700 and more per person on airfare just to get to Barbados.
This cruise schedule proved to be most popular by those visitors already planning to visit Barbados, and then having the opportunity to extend thier vacation and visiting other neighboring islands.
I suspect with the cheap easyCruise prices, several of their ships have been booked for the upcoming World Cup, either through marketing of this event by easyCruise, or private entities. So, that just leaves a smaller booking window for the upcoming easyCruise Barbados season. At any rate, I'll keep you posted here in the blog.
While Barbados is not currently listed, here's what the owner had to say:
easyCruise founder, Stelios Haji-Ioannou commented: “We are incredibly excited about this new Caribbean itinerary. We have spent many months looking into different options, including Miami and the Bahamas and also returning to Barbados where we were last year. In line with our business philosophy of asking the various regions to compete with each other, I am glad to say that St Maarten and the nearby islands came out on top!”
“Some of the reasons for this decision are that we felt that a new set of islands has more appeal to our repeat customers who are already following us from season to season. We are already working on a new Greek Islands itinerary for the summer of 2007. As well as this, the St Maarten/Antigua itinerary not only takes in some of the most exclusive and fascinating destinations in the Caribbean, it also offers good international airlift (Antigua has non stop flights from London and St Maarten is well connected from the US, France and Holland). In addition the local authorities and the management teams of the ports have been incredibly welcoming.”
