Barbados & Grenada Team for World Cup Visitors
Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 05:04PM
Officials from Barbados and Grenada have joined together to prepare for accommodating the large number of visitors for the 2007 International Cricket Council's Cricket World Cup (CWC).
Arrangements are being made for persons to stay in Barbados and travel to Grenada to attend matches during the second round Super Eight phase of the tournament.
Barbados and Grenada will be hosting matches on alternate days from April 10 to 21.
Tourism authorities, and CWC organizers of both countries are working together to increase the number of home lodgings on Grenada, investigating cruise ship options, along with proposed lodging in Barbados.
The massive destruction caused by Hurricane Ivan back in September, 2004 left the island of Grenada with 80% of the buildings either damaged or destroyed.
While several resorts, including Grenada Spice Island Beach Resort, have re-opened, the island is reporting just under 1,000 rooms available for World Cup accommodations.

I plan to stay in Barbados and travel to Grenada on the 3 days that India is playing a game in Grenada. Dates - 12, 16 and 18. Can you suggest best ways to make the travel (assuming I travel in in the AM and leave after the match)? Tks!!

How do I travel between Grenada and Barbados and what are staying options in Barbados during April 11-16.
Thanks.
I've sent a personal reply to your e-mail.
How does one get to Barbados from Grenada and back other than flying? How long does it take by a boat or ship? How much does it cost? How early should one make reservations?
What is the best way to get around the island? I will be there for a week and watching matches on 3 of those 7 days. Should I rent a car? What's a reliable & reasonably priced car rental agency? I had read somewhere that the traffic jams can be pretty bad on the island.
Thanks in advance!
