High Cost of Living in Barbados
Friday, July 21, 2006 at 11:05PM An article I read today from the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC)
The head of the European delegation to the Eastern Caribbean, Amos Tincani has described Barbados as one of the most expensive places in the world, even more so than Brussels.
He says monopolies have to shoulder a lot of blame for the impact they have on this country's cost of living.
Mr. Tincani who is based in Barbados, made the comments at a strategic planning workshop for regional business support organisations, hosted by the Caribbean Export Development Agency.
The EU diplomat says the practice whereby single entities have a stranglehold importing and distributing goods is also a contributing factor to the high cost of living.
Mr. Tincani believes that the Caribbean needs open regionalism and faster progress towards a true single market and economy.
Here's another article on the state of commerce in Barbados from Caribbean 360.com
