BTA & New York Mets Form Partnership
Saturday, May 6, 2006 at 07:19AM The Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) has signed on with the New York Mets, to promote the Caribbean island at home and away games through the 2008 baseball season.
The deal offers the chance for New York Mets fans to win all-expense paid trip giveaways to Barbados each season. The "Mets Lucky Home Run Inning presented by Barbados" will provide one lucky fan the chance to win a complimentary getaway to this Caribbean hot spot when a Mets player hits a home run during the specially designated inning.
A single contestant is randomly selected among the fans in attendance at all 81 games played at Shea Stadium. Fans watching the locally broadcast road games on SportsNet New York (SNY) or WPIX/WB 11 can also participate by registering online at http://www.sny.tv/barbados.
"The Barbados Tourism Authority is excited to be working with this world renowned baseball team," said Bill Silvermintz, vice president of marketing for the Americas for the Barbados Tourism Authority. "The Barbados-Mets partnership will provide each fan attending the games with the unique opportunity of seeing all that the island has to offer."
The BTA is also inviting New York Mets Season Ticket Holders to an exclusive New York Mets-themed weekend in Barbados.
The offer will entice these committed fans with a one-of-a-kind gift bag packed with New York Mets souvenirs, a voucher redeemable for two free tickets to a future Mets game and Mets autographed memorabilia.
Participants will also be treated to a special appearance by a New York Mets player during the weekend-long festivities.
