Response From GAIA on Medical Facility
Hope everyone here in the U.S. had a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend. I took some time off, and certainly enjoyed the sunny weather and spending time with my family.
While going through my e-mail I came across an e-mail sent by the Lesley St. John, Marketing & Public Relations Manager for GAIA (Grantley Adams International Airport) in response to my posting on the new medical facility for GAIA.
From reports in the media, we reported that the new airport medical facility at GAIA was in response to the upcoming World Cup, along with a recent UK visitor dying from an asthma attack at the airport. I also reported that this would add to the cost of the airport expansion.
Here's Mr. St. John's response . . .
With regard to your post on the airport medical facilty. The facility currently under discussion is part of the current airport expansion project.
The facilty is on the landside of the airport to the east of the current arrivals greeting area. The space for the facility is almost complete as far as construction is concerned. The discussion that is currently taking place is how the facilty will operate.
GAIA Inc. is currently meeting with a number of different agencies to determine the most effective mode of operation for the facility. As the facility was part of the initial project plan it is not envisioned that this will increase the project cost in any way.
You just never know who is reading your blog. Thanks for stopping by and giving some first hand information!
Linda
