Barbados Sea Island Cotton

AS prospects for economic benefits from Barbadian Sea Island Cotton continue to attract attention here, across the region and internationally, Jamaica is expressing a desire to buy cotton seeds from Barbados.

Lorna Garner, chief executive officer of Exclusive Cottons of The Caribbean, says that Jamaica wants to plant the seeds to see how they will grow in their environment.

West Indian Sea Island Cotton thrives in Barbados and is considered to be one of the best in the world. However, it does not grow easily in other environments.

I had the opportunity to purchase several outfits made out of Sea Island Cotton several years ago at the Carol Cadogan, Cotton Days Designs studio. Sea Island Cotton is extremely soft and lightweight, and is perfect for the hot island weather.

Does anyone know if Carol is still on the island? Her studio was close to the Bridgetown area.
